Charity Quilts

2012 Charity Quilts

Charity Blocks

Sharon Jones handed out instructions and fabric at the November meeting.  We are making 2 versions of the American Crossroads quilt.  One in indigo and one in Christmas colors.  If you did not sign up or receive your fabric please see Sharon in December.

All members will be expected to make 2 or 3 blocks for our annual charity quilts.  We make quilts each year for organizations such as the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce auction, the Children's Shelter, Senior Citizens Center, etc.  Members are given several months to complete their blocks and sometimes are given background or other fabric to incorporate into their blocks.  Members may sometimes be given a pattern to make the blocks.
All members should attend the workshops as it is a mandatory requirement for guild membership.  For every 2 hours they attend a workshop, they will receive one lottery ticket.  Due to the fact that much time was spent at the workshop reworking the blocks (due to incorrect sizing) all blocks turned in by members in the future will be measured at the time they are submitted.  If they are not correct, they will be returned to the quilter so the mistake can be corrected.  We encourage all members to purchase a 12 1/2" or larger ruler to measure their own blocks.
