Dear Members:
It does not seem possible that the first quarter of quilt guild year is over! I know that we hit the ground running in September to get so many things started. We have almost completed the sections to next year's raffle quilt, we have been assigned blocks for our charity quilts and with greatest pride, we have sold 2,965 of our 3,000 tickets for this year's quilt.
With all that being said, I would like for us all to pause and reflect on the seasons that are upon us. First, let me say that during this Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for the beautiful ladies that I am associated with in the guild. Each and every one of you is an amazing woman. I would like to challenge you to think about something different each day that you are thankful for and write it down. Read your blessings daily.
Second, the Christmas season is coming up fast upon us. I love Christman! It is my favorite time of the year. There are three stories that I remember about Christmas growing up as child; One, the Christmas Story (the birth of Christ), second, A Christmas Carol, and third, The Gift of the Magi. All three have always held a special place in my heart for different reasons.
The birth of Christ was the greatest gift ever to be received by mankind. A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, reminds me that we are all blessed and that we should keep the Christmas Spirit in our hearts all year. The Gift of the Magi was a story written by O'Henry and it taught me to give unselfishly to others. Let's think about that: I have received the greatest gift, I will remember that gift daily, and I will give my gifts to others. Try to find time this season and read these three stories again, or for the first time!
To quote Tiny Tim: "God bless us every one".
